Thumbs up for Mr. Fox by Helen Oyeyemi. Fantasy.
A writer, his wife, and his imaginary girlfriend. Delightful. I have no idea how the sub-stories fit together in this book, which may be because I am not smart enough, or it may be because the author chose to leave it undefined. It felt as if she was playing happily in her sandbox, and I enjoyed playing along.
They tried their best with each other, but it just wasn’t any good. I don’t know if you know what a Yoruba woman can be like sometimes. Any house they lived in together burnt down. They fought; their weapons were cakes of soap, suitcases, fists, and hardback encyclopaedias. There were injuries.
