Thumbs up for House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. Romantic fantasy.
I had to wait until I was in the right mood for this, but finishing two rather grim history books in quick succession, the time was now. Man, Cerulean Sea really is as absurdly heartwarming as everyone and their mom says it is. My inner cynic kept trying to protest that it was TOO sappy, but then I would say “Awwww!” again, and I just can’t dis it. It would be like kicking a puppy. Get a copy and save it for a bad day, then loan it to your bestie and your mom, unless they’ve read it already (which they probably have, because I’m two years behind this curve).
“Parts of a whole,” Linus said. “We all have our issues. I have a spare tire around my middle. His father is Satan. Nothing that can’t be worked out if we try hard enough.”
