Hello and welcome! My name is Emma and I've been a bookseller for over a decade. I also write fantasy under the name E. M. Epps. This blog features my Two-Paragraph Book Reviews. One paragraph from me. One from the book. Here's why I keep it short.

Review: “Jewels of the Sun” by Nora Roberts

Thumbs up for Jewels of the Sun by Nora Roberts. Romance.

I like the idea of romance novels, but I can’t stomach any modern romance unless it is liberally mixed with something else (science fiction or humor). Nevertheless, as I said, I like the idea, so I sample them now and then. After spending two days organizing the gargantuan Nora Roberts section at the bookstore where I work, it seemed only fair I try one of hers, since she is after all supposed to be The Best. Lo and behold, not only did I get past page three, but I finished it, and I enjoyed it, too. The characters are distinct and likable (and the hero only has a slight cleft to his chin) and only as stupid as normal people (rather than stupid simply for the needs of the plot). The writing is absolutely smooth and you’re finished before you know it. Who knows, maybe someday I will read the other two in the trilogy.

They sneered companionably at each other.

I, personally, am also an affiliate of the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and will likewise make a commission if you click through those links and make a purchase. Having to use Amazon doesn’t fill me with joy, but they’re the only good affiliate program for used books available right now. So…that’s the way it is.
