Review: “Skippyjon Jones: Lost in Spice” by Judy Schachner

Thumbs up for Skippyjon Jones: Lost in Spice by Judy Schachner. Children’s.

I’ve always found the illustrations in the Skippyjon Jones books adorable, and have meant to read one for a while. Well…it was way weirder than I’d expected. I’m not even going to try to summarize: let’s just say I’m glad I don’t have to explain this to a four-year-old. Or maybe it makes complete sense to four-year-olds, and I’m too old to get it. Anyway, it’s cute.

Knock, knock. Who goes there?
Verde Martians everywhere!
Slurping sloppy ice-green cones,
Speeding in the spicy zones.
Mossy Martians on the move,
What do they think they have to prove?
We did not come here for a fight.
We want to build, we will not bite!
